The Xorber (ek'sorber) 1 is a mobile tool for professional recording in demanding spatial environments. Its key feature is a high-tech transparent film with extremely effective acoustic properties and a distinct practical advantage: During recording, the performer/producer can maintain a clear view of everything, including the monitor and fellow-performers. The film curves around the microphone and the performer, and is large enough to permit both to be positioned in the acoustically optimal region. This enhances the recording quality and reduces interference from room reflections more effectively. As demonstrated by laboratory measurements and recording tests, the original sound remains remarkably neutral. Distinctly audible improvements are apparent for recordings in acoustically untreated spaces, such as home environments or lofts. The Xorber 1 weighs only 850 grams, and can be mounted on standard floor or table stands. The light weight even permits the Xorber 1 to be suspended, for instance above the table where the monitor and keyboard are located.
